New York City performance artist Pat Oleszko is unique, awwwwe-inspiring and a little terrifying if encountered unexpectedly — but a clear favorite at the Ybor Festival of the Moving Image. Her appearance at the 2011 Festival will be her third.
Pat Oleszko, will present her personally branded artistic humor as she returns for her third engagement at the Festival of the Moving Image.
A performance artist, costume designer, song writer and lyricist, Oleszko decorates her surrounding (and often herself) to illustrate a perspective, both with riveting insight and rib-tickling wit.
Oleszko previously thrilled and confounded attendees at the 2004 Festival, where she presented a series of workshops on costume design, and then again in 2007 when she performed Innuendo (And Out the Other).
The Truth Squirts
An "Artist's Statement", sorta, maybe, from her website:
"Pat Oleszko makes a spectacle of herself – and doesn't mind if you laugh. Known as the Ms Tricks of Dis Guise, she has a large body – of work – which includes many Unnatural Acts. Utilizing elaborate costumes and props, she has created lithe performantzes, films, installations that a-dress trees, knees, breasts, butts, elephants and fingers.
"There have been notorious spatial events with the cast-off thousands and uttered shenanigans. She has worked from the popular artforms of the street, party, parade and burlesque house, to the Museum of Modern Art, from Sesame Street Magazine to Ms, Playboy, and Artforum.
"A much decorated artist, literally and figuratively, she has been amply rewarded for her diverse efforts pumping irony and disparately bringing home the beacon. The truth squirts".
